Hello...it has been a fair while since I've posted on here, I know! I've been really busy painting with no time to stop and write about it on here...as I've said before though, I always keep my Facebook page up to date so if you want to see what I am up to, your best bet is to find me there. I've also rejoined Instagram - my user name is restyledvintagecom (I couldn't reuse restyledvintage so this was the next best thing I could think of!)
Anyway, I bought this sideboard off a friend a couple of weeks ago.
I'd originally seen it last year and said to her to think of me if she ever wanted to sell it - well fast forward 6 months or so, and she was moving interstate and no longer wanted the sideboard, so it became mine. A few commenters on my facebook page weren't happy that I was planning on painting it, but, well...that is what I do. I wonder what they will think of it now?
I used a layered painting technique for this piece, using Annie Sloan Chalk Paints. I did a base coat of Duck Egg, followed by two coats of Pure White, then a wash of French Linen mixed with Old White. I used a wet distressing technique, then sealed with clear wax.
I left the handles unpainted but didn't like the contrast once I put them back on, so painted them white then did the same French Linen wash over the top.
This sideboard is now available for sale - please contact karen@restyledvintage.com for details.
Due to my workload at present, I won't be at the Foreshore Market this Saturday. I hope to be back for March though!
Oh your back on insta! I'll come follow you ;-)

ReplyDeleteLove it Karen! So glad you went ahead and painted it after the chatter on fb. I often get comments like that as well, and I just laugh them off - it's what I do too :)
