The French Cream Hutch filled with treasures...

I went to Lynda's place last Friday and got to see the French Cream Hutch proudly standing in its new home.  Lynda has it looking absolutely beautiful with her mother's china in it.  Here are some photos I took while I was there:

The French Cream Bedside Cabinets

These turned out even better than I anticipated and they sold very quickly.  This the the great feedback I received from the purchaser: "What a wonderful product.  The quality and finish is first class.  Lovely to meet you Karen, would love to trade again soon. - Jane"

Just completed!!! The French Cream Dressing Table

This has turned out beautifully, I am really pleased with it...and so was the young lady who now owns it :)

The French Cream Duchess

This one lives in my bedroom and is going to stay there (for now!)

The French Cream Duchess - Before

The duchess as it looked when I purchased it...lovely mirrors, nice lines and beautiful handles, but crying out for a French Country makeover!

The French Cream Tallboy

The cream tallboy turned out beautifully and I had originally planned on keeping it for Sophie's room but it was one of my 'test sale' pieces and was snapped up super quickly!

We are back from our holiday....

and I am itching to get painting, but it will have to wait until school holidays are over!  Waiting for me when we returned from Marlborough and Nelson were some packages from Vistaprint containing all sorts of goodies that I had lots of fun designing a few weeks ago....business cards, magnets, labels, a rubber stamp, a large sign and some very cute Unicorn postcards personalised for Sophie.  They keep sending me emails saying I can order more free stuff and it is so much fun, I might just have to have another wee look.....

The Sage Green Armoire

This lovely wee Sage Green Armoire has been sold and has gone to its new home with a very happy new owner.

The Pink Tea Trolley

The Sage Green Hutch Dresser

This is the first Hutch Dresser I completed
and at this stage I am very attached to it
and plan on keeping it!

A view of the top corner....
I love the shapes and lines
of this piece, it lent itself very
well the distressed paint finish.

This piece had lovely handles on it already, although the middle drawer one was missing the ring pull.  I managed to purchase one that fitted in well with the others.

The bottom of the hutch has lovely lines too.

The centre top of the Hutch and my matching glass beads on top.
And this is what it looked like before I got my hands (well, paintbrushes, sandpaper and furniture wax!) on it.

The French Cream Hutch Dresser is finished!

I am really pleased to say that the Cream Hutch Dresser/Wall Unit is finished and I have listed it for sale on Trademe today.  This has taken me quite a while but I am absolutely thrilled with the result and I must say that it looks lovely in my lounge where I will look after it until it goes to its new home...so far I have resisted loading it up with my treasures....wonder how long that will last!?

Well, hello there!

Welcome to my very first post in my very first blog!

Where do I start?  I am Karen and I live in Rangiora, NZ.  I have always loved the french country/shabby chic style and for a long (long, long!) time I have dreamt of letting myself loose with a paintbrush and some sandpaper on some furniture.  Now I have completed my family (and survived the baby years relatively unscathed!), the time is right for me to get painting!  So far I have completed a large shelf, a dressing table, a chest of drawers, a small armoire and a large hutch dresser.  I did them all with the intention of keeping them for myself but my friends and family kept saying to me how fantastic they were and that they were sure others would think so too, and convinced me that I should try selling them.  So I advertised a couple of pieces on www.trademe.co.nz and within a week they had sold!  The feedback from the purchasers was very positive and has inspired me to do more.  So, I am loving it....I get to surf on trademe, visit op-shops, garage sales and recycling stores all in the name of  'work'!  I get immense joy from transforming unloved out-of-date pieces of furniture into shabby chic treasures...and I get to do it from the comfort of my own home!
